To support the learning environment at Mitchell, the PTA undertakes several fundraising activites.
Our Fundraisers are:
Direct donation campaign: In an effort to alleviate the time and hassle of participating in many small fundraisers, we are asking all Mitchell families to make a donation in any amount to the PTA to support the many enrichment programs and funding the PTA provides to the school. 100% of your donation will go directly to the PTA and your donation may be tax deductible. We hope this will be our only BIG fundraiser this year! For more info. about where your donation will be spent, see our How PTA Helps Mitchell page.
You can print a donation form or donate online
Other Fundraisers include
- October 27th The North Face Speaker Series: Vital Outdoors in downtown Golden donated 100% of ticket sales from The North Face Speaker Series to the Mitchell PTA and the Shelton Elementary PTSA (split 50/50). Thank You — Vital Outdoors.
- e-books: Order, sell books and collect funds. These books are sold as a service to parents, who find the coupons useful. We do not offer incentives for selling additional books.
- Barnes & Noble Night: Mitchell students perform at B&N with the choir, dance groups or theatrical performances. Students’ art works are exhibited. Barnes & Noble donates a percentage of sales from that day to the PTA.
- Box Tops and Labels for Education: Collection of and coordination of BoxTops labels (Kleenex, Avery products, Ziplock boxes, many cereals and more) and Labels for Education (Campbells soup, Goldfish) for fund raising.
- Recycle for the Rainforest: We colllect empty inkjet/laser cartridges and old cell phones at school. A collection box is located in the atrium. Recycle for the Rainforest pays us $1 — $15 per piece that we collect. We will also help save up to 500 square feet of rainforest per cartridge or cell phone we collect in the process. Recycle for the Rainforest will donate part of the proceeds to rainforest conservation. This is an ongoing fundraiser. Bring your recycle material to school any time. For more information about Recycle for the Rainforest call: 303.808.9515.
- Original Works: Turning students artwork into professionally made products you can wear and share.
Fundraising Principles
The Mitchell PTA believes in the following principles concerning fundraising:
Fundraising is not a primary part of the PTA mission. We raise funds to support the mission of the PTA, which is to enhance the education of our children. For this purpose we provide funds to the classroom and for PTA sponsored enrichment activities. However, we believe that the PTA can contribute the most to the enrichment of our childrens education by supporting the school with volunteers and getting parents involved in their childs education.
The PTA advocates for adequate funding of school equipment and supplies from those governmental bodies which have the legal responsibility of meeting those needs (school boards, county commissioners and the state and federal government.)
We conduct at least three non-fund-raising projects aimed at helping parents and children or advocating for school improvement for each fund-raising event.
Our fundraisers involve no door-to-door selling; we do not offer prizes for number of items sold. We will not sell junk food, candy or other unhealthy items.
We strive to have fundraisers which have a purpose beyond raising funds. An example of this: Barnes and Noble Night gives our students the chance to display their work in public, and perform for the community.
