Volunteers needed for Multicultural Night

If you’re want­i­ng to help out with one of the coolest events in the school year then here’s your oppor­tu­ni­ty.  Here’s the scoop.

20 fam­i­lies are host­ing booths.  Bel­la Diva Dance is hold­ing glob­al dance lessons and per­for­mance from 6:15–7:30 pm, fea­tur­ing our own Robin MacK­in­non.
There will be a Pho­to booth.  Cal­i­for­nia Wraps food truck on site…a nut free truck that has veg­an, veg­e­tar­i­an, gluten free options, a vari­ety of glob­al wraps.  $6 for kids/$9 for adults

TEACHER RECOGNITION AWARDS- NOMINATE A TEACHER

Do you know a spe­cial teacher who demon­strates a con­ta­gious enthu­si­asm for teach­ing and learn­ing and who reg­u­lar­ly inspires all stu­dents to take on new chal­lenges and to rec­og­nize their full poten­tial? Have you met a teacher who thinks out­side the box and advances new approach­es to teach­ing and learn­ing? Gold­en Schools Foun­da­tion is hold­ing the 6th annu­al Gold­en Teacher Recog­ni­tion Awards to reward and encour­age excel­lence in teach­ing at our eight local neigh­bor­hood schools. To nom­i­nate one of our out­stand­ing Gold­en teach­ers, please see this form for cri­te­ria and instruc­tions.

Mitchell Garden Club Starts Soon

This spring we will focus on prep­ping the Mitchell Com­mu­ni­ty Gar­den for plant­i­ng.  We will learn about the veg­eta­bles and flow­ers we plant and will main­tain the gar­den while learn­ing about the pos­i­tive effects of health and nutri­tion through hor­ti­cul­ture.  Week­ly activ­i­ties will be cen­tered around kines­thet­ic and visu­al learn­ing, with an empha­sis on coop­er­a­tion.  Stu­dents will lead an Earth Day cel­e­bra­tion in April, and will reach out to neigh­bor­ing schools for par­tic­i­pa­tion.  Music, PE and Art teach­ers are encour­aged to pro­vide activ­i­ties for stu­dents to engage in.  Par­ent Vol­un­teers are also encour­aged to lend a hand any time.

Spring Conference Potluck Dinner Volunteers

It’s time for Spring Parent/Teacher con­fer­ences!  Let’s join togeth­er and pro­vide our won­der­ful ded­i­cat­ed teach­ers and staff with fan­tas­tic POTLUCK meals on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, AND THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2017.
