Mitchell School Garden
The Mitchell Elementary School Garden is a beautiful organic space for your Kâ5 kiddos to both learn about gardening and to investigate and explore the natural world around them.
Situated at the south end of the upper playground, the Garden was made possible through grants and fundraisers and founded in 2011. Ten raised beds were built in 2012 by Home Depot and a storage shed was built by STEM volunteers. In 2023, a group of Mines students built five cold frames so we could complete a full growing cycle in the spring before the end of school.
In the fall and spring, we open the garden during recess so that all students have the opportunity to visit the garden and help things grow.
In the fall we host a Harvest Festival (in 2025 it will be held on Thursday, October 2nd) and in the spring we host a Garden Earth Day Celebration.
Our garden is entirely run by volunteer parents, and we would love to have you join us! To volunteer your time, tools, monetary donations and knowledge, please contact us at mitchellptagarden@gmail.com.
