Mitchell Elementary School Accountability Committee (SAC)

What is SAC?

The job of SAC is to work closely with the community and school leadership to advise on important topics that directly impact our students.

Why join our meetings?

This is your chance to be part of the conversation! The School Accountability Committee (SAC) serves as an advisory body to support Mitchell Elementary’s shared leadership model. All are welcome! In our quarterly meetings, we discuss important topics such as the Unified Improvement Plan (Mitchell’s academic goals for the year), student-based budgeting, school performance data, enrollment, and school improvement priorities for our students. These are topics that are impacting your student’s daily experience at Mitchell, and we would love to have your voice as part of our conversation.

The school-level accountability committee (SAC) serves in an advisory role to the school principal. The school's principal is ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and district requirements and meeting the academic performance expectations defined by Jeffco Public Schools. Responsibilities include:

  • Make recommendations to the principal on school priorities for spending school funds prior to adoption of the school budget. This view should ensure that funds and spending priorities align with the school's improvement plans and core values of the school to benefit all students.

  • SACs are also expected to annually review and approve the school fees.

  • Provide recommendations annually on the school's Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).

  • Meet quarterly to review and discuss the implementation and progress of the school's improvement plan.

  • On an advisory basis, when requested by the DAC (Jeffco's District Accountability Committee) and/or district administration, provide input and recommendations concerning principal development plans and the principal evaluation process.

  • Assist school personnel to increase the level of parents engagement in the school, especially the engagement from diverse populations.
